The only way to do great work is to do what you love. These are the words that have lead to where I am today and why I chose my job. My name is Isabella Lane, I’m sixteen years old and I am seven months into my apprenticeship with GMs, I have worked for Matt and Georgia since February 2015. Going into the hairdressing industry has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.
Being an assistant requires more skills than the average job. You must be: confident, attentive, proactive and ready for whatever the day might throw at you, good or bad.! Working with 9 different stylists on a daily basis definitely requires all of those qualities!
I have learnt so much from all of the inspirational people work has surrounded me with. It has taught me how to be a perfectionist when it comes to hair and how to give a guest an outstanding service.
I have been cutting and blowdrying at Alan d virtually since Day 1 and it has boosted my confidence massively and the amazing trainers have helped me do things I never thought I’d be able to do in such a short space of time.
One day I hope to use all of these skills and eventually open up my own salon, and be one of the best stylists in London. I know with the help from everyone at work and the support I have at college I am on the right path for success.
